| Keeping your bathtub spa clean is quite
easy. Most homeowner complaints are usually related to black algae
looking stuff floating in the water. This is normal, as soap and body
oils will cling to the inner walls of the PVC piping of the tub over a long
period of time. The best way to clean the tub
is to fill it with very warm water, add 1/2 cup of household bleach for a
standard size tub, (a full cup for a large tub). Run the jets for about
15 minutes, drain the tub, and then rinse it well. Some residual black
residue may still be present in the plumbing, and most of it will go away if
you refill the tub, run the jets a minute or so, and then drain it
again.
Warning: Be sure that
children are kept away from the tub when it has the bleach in it, and it is
recommended that you remain in close proximity to the tub to ensure that they
are not allowed to play in the water. Excessive amounts of chlorine fumes
may be present when the jets are running, and can cause burning of the eyes,
and respiratory problems. In any case, be sure to read and follow the
warning label on the bleach container.
